This project’s goal was to communicate a neighbourhood’s personality and feel through mapping. The neighbourhood I chose was Cambie Street from Broadway to 16th. Taking the idea of mapping literally, I collected bits of information, a colour palette, industrial typefaces, geometric shapes and design elements from the main focus point of the whole area: the chaos of the construction of the Canada Line. I felt the neighbourhood was best represented through solid information and clear facts. I spent several weeks observing traffic patterns, both vehicular and pedestrian as well as collecting information, sketching parking spots and redrawing traffic routes.
