Goodnight is a short experimental narrative inspired by bedtime stories that were intended to comfort children before they drift off to sleep. My film, however, is not your typical bedtime story. Goodnight suggests a loss of innocence and overcoming confinement. It reveals a dreamlike world that, for the main character, exposes his collapsing mentality. It is filled with absurd, surreal, nightmarish imagery that partially comes from my own memory of childhood and dreams. After completing my degree at Emily Carr in Spring 2008, I aspire to continue exploring these themes and am enthusiastic about continuing to contribute to the film industry through expressive work resulting from creative risk taking.
