While Alana is mainly a painter her practice also includes drawing and sculpture. Her sculptural practice informs the way in which she addresses the materiality and history of the canvas in her paintings. In spring 2008 Alana participated in an internship at The Catriona Jeffries Gallery. From February 2008 to March 2008 Alana exhibited her work in the Black Berry Gallery in Port Moody, in which she titled Trees and Petroleum. The exhibition examined the ephemeral infrastructure based upon the movements and short lived loyalties of companies.
