The ego has become a focal point for my work because I find it inescapable. I cannot deny that the greatest reason I have for showing, not making, work is the attention I receive. This realization clashes greatly with my interest in mysticism which encourages selflessness. My current work attempts to navigate the borders between selfishness and selflessness by reworking what was not created selflessly so that it is either removed or changed. It also questions the relationship between itself and the viewer’s ego, resulting in a whole system of egos that my work attempts to navigate and experiment with.
