Interactive video installation: digital video
Interactivity, virtual performance and hybrid media forms explore participatory narrative, the aesthetics of play and gaming, the virtual body and online identity. Participants initiate encounters with human-like avatars from Second Front (www.slfront.blogspot.com) that are shown in life-size through a video projection on a wall. Through these encounters, a participant experiences both normative and aberrant socialization with avatar beings. This invokes experiences beyond the ‘real’ or simulated’, rather than something in-between - the uncanny.
