My landscapes are inspired by memories of fleetingly tranquil moments I have experienced while traveling to places on the liminal cusp of civilization. These wild lands, though touched by humans, still vibrate with such spiritual physical force that they overwhelm and sense of self. My painting meditates on the transience of nature as we are slowly consuming it. The depth of the picture plane and layered application of paint presents a transition between the real and surreal to create the impression of a disturbingly sublime dream, or hallucinatory clarity brought about by sever physical exhaustion.
