Photograph, C-print, 24˝× 30˝
In addition to working with sound, text, and an ongoing critical written practice, my approach to the photographic image is rooted in different strategies of aesthetic inquiry. One involves monochromatic colour C-prints which explore the materiality of the photographic object in relation to digital media and the death of film. This runs parallel to exploring disembodied currencies in online culture via the .jpg, internet memes and authorship. Lastly, I work with a consumer point-and-shoot film camera, using cheap 3-pak film and drugstore processing. Beyond any content within the frame, my work toys with codified ideas of legitimacy within photography’s technical hierarchies and its’ regional, conceptual or stylistic idioms.
