In an extensive investigation into the sport of amateur boxing, the act of fighting was understood to be something other than the controversial aspects inherent to the sport; the safety, intentions, and motives of those involved, and the typical warrior/brute mentality inherently associated with it. Instead, in a series of smaller, more intimate moments, the images portray something on a more personal level; aspects of basic human interaction among those in the ring, as well as the observers. In Ring, these intense moments reveal a profound, almost otherworldly presence found within the ring. These echo the heightened state of awareness of those in the ring during competition.
