My process-based collages investigate my interest in materiality, time, movement and compositional elements. Relying on intuition, I focus on colour and form — while disregarding technological aids deemed unnecessary — in order to renew value and give priority to the artist’s direct subjective response. Working in layers, I explore this idea by using expressive and fluid paint application as a starting point, in combination with controlled and repetitive patterns on paper. Altering scale and format within works visually communicates themes of focused engagement and escapism in the formation of unique patterns.
