My paintings are explorations of the untamed open spaces found in nature, and suggest places that are natural and undiscovered, while also familiar. This setting engages the viewer in a process of discovery and recollection. Layered applications of paint, representing a transition between the real and the surreal, suggests fragments of a panoramic scene. This stimulates the viewer to investigate what it is they are seeing. My interpretation of a natural and painterly space, as well as an absence of a specific narrative, leaves the viewer with a boundless meditative atmosphere.
