In observing elements found in Vancouver and the areas I traverse regularly, I use memory and imagination to create paintings isolated in time and space. This work is derived from an interest in the surrealists, American scene paintings and phenomenology’s examination of space and experience. Taking from that body of work, I attempt to create an experience and an interpretation of reality that enhances our own understanding of today’s modern world. I intend to expand the experience of an event or space, and to extend perception and meaning.
